Team

Join Netflix's Player team, responsible for delivering seamless streaming experience once a member presses play on iPhones, iPads, and Apple TV. This includes HLS playlist generation, FairPlay license fetching for DRM-protected content, ad insertion, live events, multiple audio/subtitle tracks, and secure data transmission. You'll collaborate with UI engineering, product teams, Apple, content and studio engineering, and data experts.

Responsibilities

• Ensure quality of consumer-facing iOS/iPadOS/tvOS applications at scale with Swift and Objective-C
• Build tools, frameworks, and infrastructure that make automation possible
• Apply AI tooling in testing context — generate tests, triage failures, analyze flakiness, close coverage gaps
• Draw the line between what should be automated vs manual, defended with data and judgment
• Drive testing at every layer: component, integration, unit, and XCUI end-to-end automation
• Influence team quality culture and drive test strategy decisions
• Reason through interactions of complex systems where playback issues are often emergent and hard to reproduce
• Define hypotheses and use data to reason about test results across diverse devices

Requirements

• Highly experienced ensuring quality of consumer-facing iOS/iPadOS/tvOS applications at scale with Swift and Objective-C
• Deeply curious about audio/video and streaming at Netflix
• Experience with HLS, Media Playback, or AVPlayer is a bonus
• Champion for automation and testing with software engineering chops to build tools and frameworks
• Experienced applying AI tooling in testing context
• Comfortable drawing line between automated and manual testing
• Open and proactive communicator who shares context, ideas, and feedback
• Passionate about testing at every layer of the stack
• Proven experience influencing team quality culture and driving test strategy decisions
• Systems thinker who can reason through interactions of complex systems
• Scientific thinker who can define hypotheses and use data to reason about test results
