Join Grove Collaborative, a sustainability-focused consumer products company and certified B Corp, creating household and personal care essentials. You'll be a senior, single-threaded owner of the iOS surface, operating as an "engineer-as-a-team" — directing fleets of coding agents to generate, review, and refactor at scale.
• Direct multiple AI coding agents in parallel to design, build, test, and ship iOS features in Swift, UIKit, and SwiftUI
• Take total ownership of a slice of the iOS app — discovery, scoping, architecture, implementation, QA, release, monitoring, iteration
• Run "engineer-as-a-team" workflow — spawn agents for spec drafting, codegen, test generation, code review, refactoring, doc writing, bug triage
• Develop and defend strong point of view on what good iOS code looks like inside Grove's architecture
• Design prompts, evals, and harnesses that make AI-assisted mobile development repeatable and measurable
• Stand up automation: Fastlane lanes, CircleCI checks, TestFlight distribution, device test farms, telemetry-driven rollback, AI-powered review gates
• Drive architecture decisions with AI as research and prototyping partner
• Collaborate with other engineers on architecture and trade-offs
• Own production health autonomously — monitor Sentry, Datadog, Cloudflare, Firebase, triage incidents, re-prioritize backlog
• Mentor contractor team on AI-native workflows and share learnings with mobile peers
• Triage Sentry crashes, hotfix, root-cause incidents with AI-assisted investigation
• 5-8 years of professional iOS development experience with shipped consumer apps at scale
• Native fluency with modern AI coding tooling (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, Codex, agentic workflows)
• Strong opinionated taste in Swift, UIKit, and SwiftUI with experience leading UIKit → SwiftUI migrations on real app
• Comfortable in repos using Coordinator/AppController patterns, protocol-driven Services and Data Managers, value-type ViewModels
• Experience integrating with JSON:API-style backends and Shopify storefront/checkout APIs at consumer scale
• Bias toward owning end-to-end outcomes with judgment to pull in others for architecture review or business context
• Genuinely autonomous — read dashboards, prioritize own queue, surface what's on fire
• Comfort writing prompts, evals, and guardrails — treat AI as system to be engineered
• Sharp written communication — specify clearly, review rigorously, explain decisions
• Collaborative, ego-light disposition
• Experience designing custom agents, MCP tools, or AI-assisted code review pipelines
• Deep experience with Combine, async/await, and modern state management
• Comfort with CocoaPods, Fastlane, CircleCI, TestFlight automation, XCTest/snapshot testing
• Familiarity with Shopify, Heap, Braze, AppsFlyer, Sentry, Rivo, Constructor.io
• Experience with Anchorage layout library or code-first UIKit layout systems
• Subscription/e-commerce mobile experience
• Exposure to feature flags, experimentation platforms, analytics instrumentation
• Experience contributing to team's shift toward AI-native development practices
